Kuansing Regent Proposes Judiciary, KPK: We Are Ready To Face It

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) admits that it is ready to face a pretrial lawsuit filed by the Regent of Kuantan Singingi, Riau, inactive Andi Putra. This lawsuit was submitted to the South Jakarta District Court.

"The information we have obtained is true that one of the parties related to this case filed a pretrial lawsuit through South Jakarta. The KPK is certainly ready to face it", KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement Affairs, Ali Fikri, told reporters on Monday, November 22.

The KPK, he continued, ensured that the entire process of investigating the bribery case, the process of obtaining the right to use the oil palm plantation permit that ensnared Andi, was by applicable regulations. So, the KPK is ready to face the lawsuit.

"We ensure that the entire process of investigating this case is by legal procedures, so we are optimistic that the lawsuit in question will be rejected by the court", said Ali.

Previously reported, the KPK named Andi Putra and General Manager of PT Adimulia Agrolestari, Sudarso as suspects in the bribery case for plantation permits. This allegation began when PT Adimulia Agrolestari proposed an extension of the Right to Cultivate (HGU) starting in 2019 and ending in 2024.

The proposal stated that each company must build a partnership garden of at least 20 percent of the HGU in the Kuantan Singingi area. However, the company actually made it in Kampar Regency, not in Kuantan Singingi Regency.

Even so, Sudarso still submitted a letter of application to Andi to approve it. However, the agreement was reached with the provision of money twice, namely in September of IDR 500 million and October of IDR 200 million.

As a result of this action, the KPK then named Andi and Sudarso as suspects. The two suspects were detained in two different places, namely the KPK Detention Center at the Jaya Guntur Pomdam Branch and the Merah Putih building.
