KUPANG - The Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) reported an eruption of Mount Ili Lewotolok in Lembata Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

"There has been an eruption of Mount Ili Lewotolok, East Nusa Tenggara on November 22, 202 with the height of the ash column being observed at about 2,000 meters above the peak," said Head of the Mount Ili Lewotolok Monitoring Post, Stanis Ara Kian, quoted by Antara, Monday, November 22.

Based on the report, the ash column was observed to be white to gray with thick intensity leaning towards the southwest from the top of the mountain with an altitude of 3,423 meters above sea level.

"This eruption was recorded on a seismogram with a maximum amplitude of 35.5 mm and a duration of approximately two minutes and 16 seconds," said Stanis.

The eruption is still continuing in the form of thick black smoke gusts continuously.

Currently, the volcanic activity of Mount Ili Lewotolok is at Status Level III (Standby) with recommendations, for the community around Mount Ili Lewotolok and visitors, climbers, and tourists not to be in that place and not to climb.
