SLEMAN - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo handed over social assistance (bansos) to art workers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic at Prambanan Temple, Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY).

"Hopefully this assistance can be useful for the artists here," said the National Police Chief in a written statement, Friday, November 19.

A total of 700 social assistance packages containing basic necessities ranging from rice, cooking oil, instant noodles, sugar, milk to tea have been handed over to Ramayana Ballet artists.

The National Police Chief took time to talk with some of the dancers. He asked about the condition of art and culture at Prambanan Temple.

The dancers claimed to be very affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. There are no staging activities at all because there are no visitors.

They hope that the pandemic conditions that are starting to improve will make dance performances stretch again.

"It's starting to get back to normal even once a week. Because there are a lot of dancers here, so that there are no social inequalities. The audience has started to come in, although there aren't many," said one of the dancers.

The National Police Chief hopes that with the pandemic conditions starting to be controlled, arts and cultural activities will return to normal. However, the former Banten Police Chief left a message to continue to comply with the health protocols (prokes) during the performance.

General Sigit encouraged the dancers to keep practicing because it is currently difficult to find young dancers who preserve art and culture.

"Hopefully everything will return to normal and leave the message that the prokes will be strengthened so that the number of COVID-19 can be suppressed," he said.
