The Head of Traffic for the Situbondo Police, Iptu Sukamto, said that the accident was suspected to be because the Fortuner vehicle driven by Zaenal Abidin (56) from Lamongan had a tire burst.

"The driver could not control the steering wheel, so he swerved to the right and then hit the truck from the opposite direction," said Sukamto, Friday, November 19.

Then the truck driven by Marudji (61) from Jombang Regency also swerved. The truck overturned and covered the entire road.

"As a result of this incident, the front bodies of the two vehicles were damaged, the cargo of the truck spilled onto the road because the truck overturned," said Sukamto.

As a result, the traffic flow on the Situbondo-Banyuwangi Highway and vice versa is completely jammed. The officers of the 90.5 Baluran Traffic Post, assisted by members of the Banyuputih Police, managed the traffic flow with a road opening and closing system while waiting for a tow vehicle to evacuate the two vehicles involved in the accident.

As a result of this accident, the victim suffered injuries immediately treated medically. The vehicle involved in the accident was secured to the Situbondo Police Traffic Post.

"Currently, the two vehicles have been secured at the Laka post and the Situbondo police station," said Sukamto.
