YOGYAKARTA - The Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta, Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, has set the 2022 Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) at IDR 1,840,915.53 or up 4.30 percent from the previous IDR 1,765,000.

Sultan HB X said that the increase in the UMP amounted to Rp. 75,915.53 based on the recommendation of the Provincial Wage Council which consisted of elements of workers' unions, elements of entrepreneurs, elements of the government, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and elements of academics.

"We agreed (the determination of the UMP) would not violate the existing statutory provisions," said Sultan HB X at the Kepatihan Complex, Yogyakarta, as reported by Antara, Friday, November 19.

Meanwhile, the Regency/City Minimum Wage (UMK) of Yogyakarta City, continued Sultan, increased by Rp. 84,440 or 4.08 percent compared to 2021 to Rp. 2,153,970.

The UMK of Sleman Regency in 2022 is IDR 2,01,000, an increase of IDR 97,500 or 5.12% compared to 2021.

The increase in the UMK in Bantul Regency was the lowest in DIY, which increased by Rp. 74,388 or 4.04 percent from last year to Rp. 1,916,848.

Meanwhile, the UMK in Kulon Progo Regency increased by Rp. 99,275 or 5.50 percent to Rp. 1,904,275.

Meanwhile, Gunung Kidul Regency experienced the highest MSE increase, which was Rp. 130,000 or 7.34 percent to Rp. 1,900,000.

The decision of the DIY 2022 UMP was stipulated through the Decree of the Governor of DIY Number 372/KEP/2021 concerning the Determination of the Provincial Minimum Wage in 2022.

The amount of the Regency/City UMK in 2022 is determined through SK/373/KEP/2021 concerning the Determination of the Regency/City Minimum Wage in 2022.

Sultan said that there were differences in the calculation of the 2021 and 2022 UMP/UMK.

Referring to Government Regulation (PP) Number 36 of 2021 concerning Wages, the UMP and UMK are calculated based on the minimum wage calculation formula, using BPS data which includes economic growth or regional inflation, average consumption per capita, number of household members, and number of household members. working stairs.

"If yesterday (UMP/UMK 2021) inflation and economic growth were national, now inflation and provincial economic growth are. So if the province has good growth, automatically the wages will be good," said Sultan.

Sri Sultan added that in the Governor's Decree in accordance with the applicable regulations, there was an additional clause in which the wage stipulation could not be suspended.

"Entrepreneurs are prohibited from paying wages below the Regency/City Minimum Wage and not deferring the payment of the 2022 Regency/City Minimum Wage. Because if that is done, there will be legal regulations. There will also be consequences if they are not paid or suspended," he said.

He asked entrepreneurs to study for themselves about the sanctions if the wage provisions were violated in accordance with the existing laws and regulations.

"I want to remind entrepreneurs to want to look at the existing regulations. Both those that are administrative in nature and those that violate the provisions that have been decided," he said.

On the other hand, the King of the Yogyakarta Palace also asked for a better wage rate for the workers to compensate for the increased quality of performance.

"With the willingness of employers to pay a higher price, we also hope that the workers will increase their productivity and qualifications as workers who are more skilled and more willing to work harder," he said.

Head of the Manpower and Transmigration Office, Arya Nugrahadi, said that the UMP/UMK amount that had been set by the Governor of DIY was effective from January 1, 2022.

Arya added that the formula for calculating the minimum wage by referring to PP 36 of 2021 has the spirit of reducing the minimum wage gap so that wage justice can be realized between regions.

"It is proven that in DIY, our highest wages are in Yogyakarta City and the lowest is in Gunung Kidul. Now (with the PP 36 formula) the disparity or wage gap has decreased by 15.2 percent," he said.
