Bribery Acting Head Of Public Works Head Of Hulu Sungai Utara Tried At Banjarmasin Corruption Court

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said that two bribers of the Acting Head of Public Works Office of Hulu Sungai Utara Regency, Maliki, namely the Director of CV Hanamas, Marhaini and Director of CV Kalpataru, Fachriadi, will soon be tried at the Banjarmasin Corruption Court.

This was done after the KPK Public Prosecutor (JPU) handed over the files of Marhaini and Fachriadi to the court today or Friday, November 19. Both of them are accused of bribery in the procurement of goods and services in North Hulu Sungai Regency in 2021-2022.

"The team of prosecutors has transferred the case files for defendant Fachriadi and defendant Marhaini to the Corruption Court at the Banjarmasin District Court," Acting KPK Spokesperson for Prevention Ipi Maryati told reporters, Friday, November 19.

After being handed over to the trial, the detention of the two bribers is now within the jurisdiction of the court. Ipi said that both of them would be placed in the Class IIA Banjarmasin Prison.

"The team of prosecutors will then wait for the appointment of the panel of judges and the determination of the day of the trial with the initial agenda of reading the indictment," he said.

For their actions, both of them were each charged with Article 5 paragraph (1) letter a of the Anti-Corruption Law in conjunction with Article 64 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code or Article 13 of the Anti-Corruption Law in conjunction with Article 64 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code.

Previously reported, the KPK named Fachriadi and Marhaini as suspects after giving bribes to the Head of Public Works of Hulu Sungai Utara Regency, Maliki. The determination of the three as suspects began with a hand arrest operation (OTT).

In a silent operation that was held on Wednesday, September 15, the KPK found Rp345 million in cash. The money is suspected to be a commitment fee of 15 percent for the project to be carried out by the two private parties.

The first project is the Rehabilitation of the DIR Kayakah Irrigation Network, Kayakah Village, with an estimated price of IDR 1.9 billion. While the second project is the Irrigation Network Rehabilitation of the Banjang DIR, Karias Dalam Village.
