BANDA ACEH - Personnel from the Narcotics Investigation Unit of the Lhokseumawe Police, Aceh, thwarted the circulation of methamphetamine, weighing up to 9.4 kilograms. Police arrested four people suspected of possessing methamphetamine.
Lhokseumawe Police Chief AKBP Eko Hartanto said the four suspects had the initials DS (38), TA (59), and R (36), a resident of Lhokseumawe City, and AS (33), a resident of Bireuen Regency.
"The arrest of the perpetrator and the 9.4 kilograms of methamphetamine took place during a raid on the coast of the Blang Lancang industrial area, Muara Satu District, Lhokseumawe City," said AKBP Eko Hartanto, quoted by Antara, Thursday, November 18.
AKBP Eko Hartanto said the methamphetamine was packaged in tea plastic with Chinese characters. In addition to methamphetamine, the police also seized a cell phone and a motorcycle.
The disclosure of the drug, said AKBP Eko Hartanto, started with a public report informing the sale and purchase of large quantities of methamphetamine in the area.
"After conducting an investigation to confirm the information, the police arrested the perpetrators of DS and confiscated evidence in the form of two packs of crystal methamphetamine," he said.
From the results of the examination, DS admitted that the illicit goods were obtained from three other suspects. The police then carried out developments related to the case.
Then, the police arrested TA, R, and AS in the Muara Satu sub-district, Lhokseumawe City. When arrested, the perpetrators hid the prohibited items in the bushes along the coast of the Blang Lancang industrial area.
"The perpetrators admitted that they would sell the methamphetamine at a price of Rp. 200 million. They also claimed to have found the drugs on the beach, in black plastic," said AKBP Eko Hartanto.
AKBP Eko Hartanto said they found nine packages of methamphetamine in Chinese tea packaging. However, the police are investigating further regarding the confessions of the perpetrators.
AKBP Eko Hartanto said that the disclosure of the 9,496 gram methamphetamine case could save 47,480 people from narcotics abuse.
"The perpetrators are charged with Article 114 Paragraph 2 in conjunction with Article 112 Paragraph 2 of Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics, which carries a maximum penalty of death and a fine of Rp. 10 billion," said AKBP Eko Hartanto.
