DKI Follows Central Government Decision To Implement PPKM Level 3 Christmas-New Year Holiday

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria said that his party would follow the central government's decision to tighten mobility by implementing PPKM Level 3 during the 2021 Christmas and 2022 New Year holiday periods.

"We have to respect what the central government has stipulated for PPKM to become level 3," said Riza at DKI City Hall, Central Jakarta, Thursday, November 18.

Currently, Jakarta is at PPKM Level 1 as COVID-19 cases are sloping. However, the easing of activities in a number of public spaces during the long holiday period has the potential to increase the transmission of the corona virus.

Therefore, Riza agrees that community activities in the capital city will be tightened again at the end of 2021 and early 2022 in order to reduce the rate of transmission.

"Although we have entered level 1, in principle we are ready and support the policies taken by the central government, to (PPKM) Level 3 within 7 to 8 days to ensure that at the end and beginning of next year there will be no increase," he said.

Later, the DKI Provincial Government will also adjust activities at tourist attractions according to PPKM Level 3 rules. "Of course, tourist attractions will be adjusted as before. Right, it's only 7 days," he continued.

It is known that the government will implement a Level 3 PPKM policy as a whole in Indonesia during the Christmas and New Year holidays. This is done to prevent an increase in COVID-19 cases.

"During the Nataru holiday, all of Indonesia will apply PPKM Level 3 regulations and provisions," said Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Muhadjir Effendy in a written statement, Wednesday, November 17.

This decision was taken at the Ministerial Level Coordination Meeting to Anticipate the Potential Increase in Covid-19 Cases on the Christmas and New Year Holidays which was held online.

Muhadjir said the policy was carried out to tighten the movement of people and prevent a spike in COVID-19 cases. Later, all regions in Indonesia that are in PPKM Level 1 and 2 must implement the PPKM Level 3 rules.

This policy is effective from December 24, 2021 to January 2, 2021. "So there is national uniformity. There has been an agreement, the rules that apply in Java-Bali and outside Java-Bali will later be uniformed," said Muhadjir.
