JAKARTA - The South Jakarta Civil Service Police Unit has tightened operational supervision of family karaoke venues during the adjustment to the Implementation of Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM) in the capital city.

The head of the South Jakarta Satpol PP, Ujang Harmawan, said the tightening was aimed at preventing the emergence of clusters of COVID-19 transmission in the community.

"There are 62 family karaokes and 10 in South Jakarta. We anticipate together with the Creative Economy Tourism Office. We are together with the three pillars every night, and especially on weekends to conduct surveillance patrols," Ujang said when met at the South Jakarta Mayor's Office, Thursday.

Ujang added that the move was also aimed at anticipating executive karaoke places operating in areas that had not yet been allowed to operate.

He said that his party often finds owners of places of business, especially night entertainment, who want to open their operations even though the DKI Provincial Government has not issued a permit.

"If there is no (permit) and it is caught, then be prepared to bear the risk of closure and fines, including those who are licensed but still have violations (such as crowds and not wearing masks)," he said.

In addition to karaoke places, Ujang ensured that his unit along with the three pillars will also continue to oversee the operations of business premises and other entertainment venues.

Based on the results of supervision over the past week, Ujang stated, there was a decreasing trend of violations in these places.

From the places of business that have been reviewed, approximately 54 places of business have no violations. "Finally, only one was in Setiabudi some time ago," he said.
