109th Anniversary, MPR Chairperson: May Muhammadiyah Illuminate With The Light Of Progressive Islam

JAKARTA - The Chairman of the MPR RI Bambang Soesatyo wished Muhammadiyah a happy 109th anniversary today, Thursday, November 18. This year, Muhammadiyah's Milad carries the big theme "Optimistic in Facing COVID-19: Spreading Main Values".

According to Bamsoet, Islamic Community Organizations (Ormas) which were born on November 18, 1912 will always bring changes to the nation and state.

Because, he said, Muhammadiyah has exemplary and leading experience in building a commitment to togetherness, uniting the spirit of all national elements and respecting diversity within the framework of unity.

"I wish Muhammadiyah a happy 109th anniversary, hopefully it will be brighter and illuminate with the light of Progressive Islam," said Bamsoet, Thursday, November 18. Muhammadiyah itself held the 109th anniversary in a hybrid manner. The offline activity was held at the Sportorium of the University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) with limited participants and strict health protocols.

While online, it is broadcast on TV Mu, YouTube Muhammadiyah Channel, and other official Muhammadiyah platforms.

In this milad, President Joko Widodo is scheduled to give an online address from the Presidential Palace. The General Chairperson of PP Muhammadiyah, Haedar Nasir and several other figures were also present.
