US Ambassador Praises Handling COVID-19 In Medan, North Sumatra

MEDAN - The United States (US) Ambassador to Indonesia, Sung Yong Kim praised Indonesia's handling of the COVID-19 pandemic which showed a significant decline, especially the second wave in Medan, North Sumatra.

"That's why the US is proud to have donated more than 13 million vaccines to Indonesia. We will donate more vaccines," said Sung after the "soft launch" of the construction of the new office building of the US Consulate in Medan.

In addition, he also praised the success of the North Sumatra Provincial Government and the Medan City Government in vaccination programs, implementing health protocols, preventing COVID-19 and public education campaigns.

The US, explained Sung, will continue to stand with the Indonesian people, and the city of Medan is a very special thing because it receives all guests at the construction site of the new office building of the US Consulate.

"This development is a symbol of the US-Indonesian partnership in Sumatra," said Sung Yong Kim, a US citizen of South Korean descent.

Meanwhile, the Medan City Government appreciates the United States Embassy in building a new office building for the US Consulate in Medan, thus facilitating the exchange of information.

"This is what we want in Medan City, the office being built has good technology and is environmentally friendly," said Deputy Mayor of Medan, Aulia Rachman.

His party asked the government structure in Medan Polonia, both the sub-district and village heads to assist in the construction of the new office building of the US Consulate in Medan.

"There should be no obstacles in the ongoing development process. Because it is not about the dignity of the city of Medan, but also the Indonesian people," explained Aulia.
