Harun Masiku Still Wanted, KPK Asks Community To Contribute

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Nurul Ghufron asked for a positive contribution from the community in the search for fugitives, including the former PDI-P legislative candidate, Harun Masiku.

He invited all parties to provide the latest information regarding Harun's whereabouts so that arrests could be made immediately.

"Hopefully the wider community (can, ed) make a positive contribution if there is information about the whereabouts of people, not only Harun Masiku but all the people on the KPK's wanted list," Ghufron told reporters, Wednesday, 17 November.

While related to the search process for Harun, he said the KPK would increase it. Moreover, Ghufron said, the COVID-19 pandemic is now starting to subside.

"Currently, COVID-19 has subsided. It will also be our commitment to re-escalate our search for Harun Masiku," he stressed.

"We are once again committed from the start because everyone who is already on the wanted list will definitely be searched for. One of the commitments is to submit it to Interpol," added Ghufron.

As previously reported, the Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK Karyoto said that he was eager to immediately arrest Harun. However, his wish had to be put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Moreover, Harun is said to be no longer in Indonesia but abroad. "We want to go there and are confused because of how many years the pandemic has been," said Karyoto some time ago.

Harun Masiku was named as a suspect in giving bribes to KPU Commissioner Wahyu Setiawan in January 2020. This bribery was carried out so that he could get an easy seat as a member of the Indonesian Parliament through interim shifts or PAW.
