A Series Of Facts Behind Detachment 88's Arrest Of Ahmad Zain, Farid Okbah And Anung Al-Hamat

JAKARTA - Densus 88 Anti-terror has arrested three suspected terrorists of the Jamaah Islamiyah (JI) network. They include Farid Okbah, Ahmad Zain An-Najah, and Anung Al-Hamat.

In the arrest of the three suspected terrorists, several surprising facts emerged. For example, Ahmad Zain is a member of the Central Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI).

Ahmad Zain was arrested by Densus 88 Anti-terror on Tuesday, November 16th. The arrest took place at his residence in the Pondok Melati area, Bekasi, West Java.

Ahmad Zain's name is listed on the official MUI website, mui.or.id. Where, he is a member of the Central MUI Fatwa Commission.

The Muslim Lawyers Team (TPM) Achmad Michdan, who confirmed about Ahmad Zain's membership at MUI, also confirmed it.

"That's right, yes (Ahmad Zain is a member of the Central MUI)," said Michdan.

However, Michdan was reluctant to comment further on this matter. For reasons that are not within their jurisdiction.

Meanwhile, the Police have yet to provide any information regarding this matter. It is only conveyed if Ahmad Zain has links to the JI network.

Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Public Relations Division, Grand Commissioner Ahmad Ramadhan, said that Ahmad Zain was known to be an important figure in the JI network. He is an advisor or an elder in the terrorism network.

"Take a role as the JI Suryo Board and the LAZ BM ABA board," said Ramadhan.

Another fact that emerged behind the arrest was related to the Indonesian People's Da'wah Party (PDRI). From the results of the examination, the party was deliberately formed as a new forum for JI.

The figure of Farid Okbah who is the General Chair of the PDRI. The establishment of the party was called by the Police after Farid communicated with suspected terrorist Arif Siswanto who was arrested earlier.

"He helped provide solutions to the US brothers who had been arrested related to securing JI members after the arrest of PW (Parawijayanto) brother by creating a new forum," said Ramadhan.

"The party formed by FAO is the Indonesian People's Da'wah Party or PDRI," he continued.

In addition, Farid Okbah is also quite active in several JI activities. Because, he is a shuro board or an elder at JI and a sharia board at Amil Zakat Baitul Mal Abdurrahman bin Auf (LAZ BM ABA).

Farid is also known to have given cash for the shield of Nusantara One, which is a wing of JI.

Meanwhile, from the alleged terrorist Anung Al-Hamat, there are not many surprising facts. So far, he is said to be a lecturer at a university. He is active in JI-related activities.

"The person concerned is a member of the Indonesian Archipelago Shield Supervisory Board in 2017. Then the top management is the supervisor of the JI group," said Ramadhan.
