MATARAM - The Police Mobile Brigade Corps has alerted troops to monitor drone activity at the 2021 World Superbike (WSBK) racing event.

"The activities are in the form of air patrols using monitoring equipment," said Head of Public Relations of the NTB Police Kombes Artanto in Mataram, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, November 16.

The monitoring tool, explained Artanto, is in the form of a device that can detect drone activity around the Mandalika Circuit area.

The troops on duty will be on standby in the hilly area around the Mandalika Circuit area. Monitoring will also be accompanied by security personnel.

"If someone is flying, we will take it down and call the pilot," he said.

Artanto invites drone activists to support the success of the WSBK racing event which will take place from 19-21 November.

"By not flying drones around the circuit area during the event, it has become part of the support for the success of the event. It would be better if we monitor it together," he said.

In monitoring drone activity around the Mandalika Circuit area, a team from the Indonesian Air Force and the Indonesian Drone Pilots Association (APDI) were also involved.

The rules regarding the use of drones are regulated in Law No. 1/2009 on Aviation. The regulation provides for sanctions for violators.

"Although there are (sanctions) in the rules, we prioritize persuasive efforts," he said.
