YOGYAKARTA - The Technical Implementation Unit of the Yogyakarta Cultural Heritage Area said security officers in Malioboro, Jogoboro, were overwhelmed by asking tourists to use the Sugeng Rawuh application for the needs of limiting visitors on weekends.
“On weekends, the number of visitors to Malioboro increases quite a lot. Finally, the officers were overwhelmed by asking visitors to scan and fill in data through the Sugeng Rawuh application," said Head of the Technical Implementation Unit for the Yogyakarta Cultural Conservation Area, Ekwanto in Yogyakarta, quoted by Antara, Monday, November 15.
According to him, the barcode for the Sugeng Rawuh application has been placed at 17 entry points for Malioboro and all of them are guarded by Jogoboro security officers assisted by the Satpol PP and the police.
However, he continued, the large number of visitors who would enter would actually cause queues that snaked at the entrances and sometimes tourists were impatient so they were reluctant to scan the application.
"Officers have tried to provide understanding and visitors also understand the function of the application," he said.
Currently, every tourist is asked to scan the barcode of the Sugeng Rawuh application and fill in the data in the form of a phone number for tracking needs if a case of transmission is found in the tourist area.
“The data entered is not too much and has been made as simple as possible to make it easier for visitors. However, once again, because of the large number of visitors, the field officers were overwhelmed,” he said.
He hopes that there will be additional officers in the field to help Jogoboro ensure that all visitors use the Sugeng Rawuh application, especially on weekends.
By scanning and filling in the data, every visitor will also receive a warning if the duration of visiting Malioboro is almost up or a maximum of two hours.
However, continued Ekwanto, officers in the field still have to remind tourists regularly that the maximum duration of being in Malioboro is two hours.
In addition, he admits, many tourists lose track of time because they are busy shopping or just taking a walk.
“Malioboro is the final destination for tourists to end their trip in Yogyakarta. Therefore, this area will be more crowded in the afternoon until the evening," he said.
