Anies' Subordinate Says 1.29 Million Cubic Meters Of Mud Have Been Dredged For Flood Handling

JAKARTA - Secretary of the DKI Water Resources Agency (SDA), Dudi Gardesi, said that his party has dredged channels, reservoirs, and ponds covering an area of 1.29 million cubic meters.

As of November 1, 2021, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has dredged 32 reservoirs, ponds, reservoirs with a dredging volume of 626.546 cubic meters.

Then, dredging 53 times or rivers with a dredging volume of 533.048 cubic meters. Next, dredging 1.051 connecting channels with a dredging volume of 132.477 cubic meters.

"We are dredging the canals to increase their carrying capacity. Not only in channels, in reservoirs, in reservoirs, we also optimize their functions, so that they can function during floods," said Dudi in his statement, Monday, November 15.

Dudi explained that the dredging was carried out to optimize the water capacity. In this dredging, the DKI Provincial Government deployed 288 heavy equipment spread around 104 dredging locations.

Furthermore, the DKI Provincial Government has also prepared hundreds of flood control pump units. In detail, as many as 496 stationary pump units were built in 108 locations with a capacity of 518.47 cubic meters per second, 329 units of mobile pumps, and 67 units of underpass pumps.

"We maintain the readiness of flood control pumps, both static and mobile ones. So, we always maintain static pumps, so that they continue to function," he explained.

Then, regarding the construction of vertical drainage, 12.482 points have been built out of the total target of building 25.647 points throughout 2021. Thus, there are still around 13 thousand vertical drainage points that must be built this year.

"In 2021, the target for the construction of 25.647 vertical drainage points, has been built 12.482 points as of October 27, 2021," he said.

Acting Head of the DKI Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Sabdo Kurnianto, said that his party had recruited 267 rapid reaction teams (TRC) to anticipate the La Nina phenomenon during the current rainy season.

"These TRC friends follow information updates from the data and information Center (pusdatin) that they see without being asked without being ordered. They immediately take the initiative to go to the field to do something to the community, we have supporting facilities and infrastructure in facing this rainy season or La Nina," explained Sabdo.
