24 Jambi Batanghari Police Detainees Escape From LPKA Sungai Buluh

JAMBI - A total of 24 Batanghari Police detainees escaped from the Special Child Development Institute (LPKA) in Sungai Buluh Village, Muarabulian District, Batanghari Regency, Jambi.

The Head of the Jambi Kemenkumham Regional Office, M Jahari Sitepu, confirmed the incident where the prisoners escaped. However, the escaped prisoner had nothing to do with LPKA Muarabulian.

"They are Batanghari Police detainees who borrowed and placed their detainees at the Muarabulian LPKA because the Polres holding cell was being renovated," Jahari said, quoted by Antara, Monday, November 15.

Kankanwil explained, on March 16, 2021, the Batanghari Police borrowed a block at the Muarabulian LPKA to place their detainees because at the Batanghari Police Station there is currently construction, so prisoners need to be moved temporarily.

This block is different from the Muarabulian LPKA detention block. The block that was borrowed was a former block for women prisoners, which currently has a special Women's Prison.

"Regarding the information circulating, I need to clarify if the escaped prisoners are not prisoners in custody, but police detainees who are placed in LPKA and the police who feed and guard directly," said Jahari.

Jahari said, based on information obtained from the Head of LPKA Muarabulian, there were 24 Batanghari Police detainees who had escaped and one person had surrendered to the police.
