JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta DPRD proposes a budget of Rp. 40 million per month for all members of the Council for visits to electoral districts (dapil) in 2022.

In total, the proposed visit budget is IDR 49 billion for 106 DPRD members in one year.

A member of the DPRD from the PDIP faction, Gembong Warsono, explained that their goal in proposing a budget for this activity was to get closer to the community.

"The council's activities going forward in 2022 want to bring the council closer to the community. So, the proposed visit is so that there is a closeness between the representatives of the people and their citizens by engaging in community activities," Gembong told reporters, Saturday, November 13.

Gembong said that the visit to the electoral district was carried out in order to map the problems in each region. So, it is hoped that DPRD members can accommodate problems in the environment of their citizens.

"This electoral district visit is once a month, for example mapping uninhabitable houses. Right, through electoral district visits, we coordinate with the service, how to solve the problem," said Gembong.

"Then, for example, to flooded areas, slums. It's not good for Jakarta to have slum RWs. Meanwhile, Jakarta has a smart city (programme). Then, where is the smart one?" he continued.

Gembong emphasized that the electoral district visit was different from the recess activity. In one year, recess members of the DPRD are held for 3 times. He considers that the aspirations of the residents cannot be fully accommodated only by conducting a recess.

Moreover, during this electoral district visit, Gembong said that the members of the council could also socialize local government programs at the same time.

"If the recess is to absorb aspirations, we listen more to what are the problems of the community. But if we visit, it can be reciprocal, in the sense that we bring local government programs that we can socialize in the community, then we absorb what becomes community problems," said Gembong.

For information, the proposed visit to the electoral district is included in the DPRD's Annual Work Plan (RKT) budget for the General Policy on Budget and Temporary Budget Priority Ceiling (KUA-PPAS) of the 2022 APBD.

If approved in the 2022 APBD, this visit to residents will be carried out once a month. Later, 106 DPRD members will receive a budget of around Rp. 4 billion per month.

If divided equally, each DPRD member will pocket a budget of up to IDR 40 million per month for the visit.

"That's IDR 4 billion a month for 106 members. So, for one DPRD member, one visit is around IDR 35 to IDR 40 million a month. If you add up a year or multiply by 12 months, it becomes IDR 49 billion," said Head of the Finance Section of the DKI DPRD Secretariat, Augustinus.
