JAKARTA - The Ministry of Social Affairs established 10 chicken farms to encourage the strengthening of the community's economy and improving the quality of human resources in Asmat Regency, Papua.

During his visit to one of the chicken coops assisted by the Ministry of Social Affairs in Amagais Village, Der Komur District, Asmat Regency, Social Minister Tri Rismaharini hoped that the farm could continue with other livestock.

"Yes, if raising chickens is successful here, you can raise other breeds. You can also quail. You can take the meat. You can also take pork. Please design it for that," Risma said in a written statement quoted by Antara, Friday, November 12.

Risma hopes that the successful livestock centers, such as in Amagais Village, can be a role model for other villages.

He advised the people in the area not to stop trying to develop the livestock business.

"From this farm, it can be developed into an economic business that increases income. Ladies and gentlemen must be able to manage it well," he said.

Asmat Regent Elisa Kambu expressed his gratitude for the assistance from the Ministry of Social Affairs. Risma's arrival with assistance is an honor and a form of love for the Asmat community.

On the same occasion, a community leader, Bishop of Agats, Monsignor Aloysius Murwito, assessed that the presence of the Minister of Social Affairs shows the government's genuine intention to help improve the welfare of the community. He asked the community to work diligently and maximize the assistance provided to improve their standard of living.

The chicken farm is the result of a collaboration between the Ministry of Social Affairs and Agats Diocese. This program includes the establishment of chicken farms in 10 villages spread across eight districts (sub-district level).

According to the regent, chicken farming is a means to support the improvement of community nutrition, including children in Papua, because the eggs can be taken from the chickens to add protein. Eggs can also be traded so as to increase people's income.
