JAKARTA - Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin said a normal life after the COVID-19 pandemic could be achieved if public discipline in implementing health protocols and massive vaccinations was continuously promoted.
"People are disciplined, so life can return to normal. And being the Minister of Health is like an investment in my afterlife, it's time for me to help many people by directly dealing with the pandemic," said Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, in a press release from the School of Business and Management, Institute of Technology. In a webinar held by SBM ITB Jakarta Campus, the Minister of Health was the main speaker and Minister of Health Budi said that when he accepted the appointment of President Joko Widodo as Minister of Health, it was time to contribute to society after having a successful career as CEO of Bank Mandiri, Inalum, and Deputy Minister of SOEs.
Budi also gave a message to the students that in order to be successful, having knowledge alone will not be enough and it is also necessary which arises from experience and interaction with many people.

Budi also proposed a transformation of the global health system so that the world community could cope with a pandemic disaster that could arise at any time in the future.
"We need a global health system, like the IMF in the global economy, with mechanisms, governance, and participation of countries in the world. Thus, when another pandemic appears in the future, there is a funding system that can always be relied on," said Minister of Health Budi.
Finally, Budi continued, collaboration with various parties, including the private sector, startups, as well as building social capital in Indonesia, needs to be done.
"Don't underestimate the social capital in Indonesia. If our society collaborates, the end result will be extraordinary," said Budi.
Meanwhile, the Director of SBM ITB Jakarta Campus, Dr. Yudo Anggoro explained the development of the Jakarta campus as well as the situation of the SBM ITB Jakarta campus which has begun to implement hybrid lectures so that students can start studying on campus with strict health protocols.
The Dean of SBM ITB, Prof. Utomo Sarjono Putro, also then gave a speech and explained several SBM ITB research initiatives related to the mitigation and handling of the COVID-19 pandemic in collaboration with MRT Jakarta, Trans Jakarta, Gojek, Grab, and the Ministry of Transportation.
This collaboration with various institutions is in line with ITB's desire to participate in solving the nation's problems in the spirit of being "globally respected and locally relevant".
Meanwhile, the Secretary of the ITB Institute, Prof. Widjaja Martokusuma, representing the ITB Chancellor, Prof. Reini Wirahadikusumah, expressed his appreciation for the handling of the pandemic in Indonesia led by the Minister of Health which showed a significant decrease in cases and therefore also received praise at the G-20 forum.
Thanks to the decrease in cases, since October 2021 ITB has been carrying out Face-to-face Lectures (PTM).
