Perpetrators Of Smuggling 158 Kg Of Cannabis To Binjai, North Sumatra Claims To Be Ordered By Inmates From Meulaboh Prison, West Aceh

ACEH - Gayo Lues Police Drug Unit, Aceh foiled an attempt to smuggle 158 kilograms (kg) of marijuana to Binjai, North Sumatra Province (North Sumatra). A total of three perpetrators were arrested in this case.

"It's true, we have also secured three suspects with evidence of 158 kg of marijuana," said Gayo Lues Police Chief, AKBP Carlie Syahputra Bustamam in a statement received in Banda Aceh, Antara, Friday, November 12.

AKBP Carlie said the three people who were arrested were KS, residents of South Aceh, RH and BD, who were residents of Gayo Lues. They were arrested on Terangun Street, Jabo Village, Terangun District, Gayo Lues on Wednesday, November 3.

Carlie said that the arrest started from information received by the drug unit that a car was passing carrying dried marijuana to Binjai City, North Sumatra via the Terangun-Abdya highway.

Responding to this information, said Carlie, the team immediately moved to carry out monitoring, not long after the suspected car passed and after it was confirmed that it was true, immediately took action.

"After being properly checked, there were six sacks containing 158 bales (1kg/bal) of dried marijuana ready for distribution," he said.

Carlie stated that based on the driver's statement, he admitted that he was ordered by a person with the initials (P) who is currently serving a narcotics crime sentence at Meulaboh Prison, West Aceh.

Then, from the statements of RH and KS, it turned out that they received orders from the suspect BD, after an examination they were also ordered by a DPO with the nickname Tok Haikal.

"Currently, the three suspects along with evidence of 158 kg of dried marijuana have been secured at the Gayo Lues Police Headquarters, while Tok Haikal is in the Gayo Lues Police DPO," said Carlie.

For their actions, they were threatened with Article 115 paragraph (2) Jo 111 paragraph (2) Jo 132 paragraph (2) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics with a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.
