JAKARTA - The Indonesian General Election Commission (KPU) reminded political parties to immediately submit their management lists as one of the requirements to participate in the simultaneous 2020 regional head election (Pilkada) candidacy stages.

Chairman of KPU RI Arief Budiman said political parties should submit the list one month before the registration stage for the 2020 Pilkada candidates begins.

"We certainly hope that, as expected in our letter today (because September 4, 2020 is the stage for candidate registration to be held), all parties can enter (political parties)," said Arief as quoted by Antara, Jakarta, Tuesday, August 4.

In fact, according to the KPU chairman, referring to the KPU regulations, the deadline for submitting these documents can be accepted until before the candidate registration stage.

However, the KPU requested submission one month before the candidate registration stage began because the election organizers needed time to distribute the documents to the local KPU.

Arief said several political parties had said they had not completed the management list document so they asked for an extension of time before submitting it to the KPU.

Therefore, he continued, a number of political parties coordinated with the KPU to reschedule the submission of the political party management lists in the next few days.

"Hopefully this will be an important message to political parties that have not yet conveyed their management, it can be delivered immediately so that when the nomination period arrives, all documents must have been well received," he said.

As of the afternoon of Tuesday, August 4 2020, according to Arief, two political parties had submitted their management lists, namely the Democratic Party and the PDI-P.
