2.29 Million Doses Of Pfizer Vaccine Entering Indonesia Directly Distributed To Regions

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health immediately distributed 2.29 million more doses of the Pfizer brand of COVID-19 vaccine that arrived in the country in two stages, heading to ten provinces.

"The number of Pfizer vaccines that arrived in the 118th and 119th stages were 2,293,200 doses. So in total, the vaccines that have arrived in the country from various brands, in bulk or finished form, are 332,671,550 doses," said the spokesperson. Ministry of Health Siti Nadia Tarmizi quoted by Antara, Thursday, November 11.

Nadia said the 118th stage of the vaccine arrived on Thursday at Ahmad Yani Airport Semarang at 09.30 WIB and Soekarno-Hatta Airport at 10.00 WIB.

While the arrival of the 119th stage of the vaccine is scheduled to arrive on Friday, November 12, at Soekarno-Hatta Airport at 09.00 WIB and at Ahmad Yani Airport Semarang at 09.30 WIB.

Nadia said the Pfizer vaccines that arrived at Soekarno-Hatta Airport were sent to the Health Offices of Central Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, North Sumatra, West Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, North Sulawesi, Maluku, Maluku Pharmaceutical Installations, and West Java.

Meanwhile, the vaccines that arrived at Ahmad Yani Airport in Semarang were sent to the Health Offices of Central Java and Yogyakarta.

"The Pfizer vaccine that came this time was immediately distributed to a number of areas, including West Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta, North Sumatra, almost all provinces in Sulawesi and Maluku," he said.

Nadia explained that this step was taken by the government to increase vaccination achievements in the regions. Currently there are 21 provincial capitals that have reached the target of more than 70 percent in November.

The government continued, he continued to ensure the availability of domestic vaccines amid the limited availability of vaccines at the global level.

"When we compare our data with global data for vaccination, we are ranked fifth for the number of people who received at least 1 dose of vaccination and also from the number of doses given," he said.

Nadia said vaccination is one of the important efforts in controlling the COVID-19 pandemic along with testing, tracking, and isolation efforts as well as compliance with health protocols.

Although the level of the pandemic in Indonesia has started to decline, said Nadia, the increase in cases is still being detected in several districts/cities.

According to him, as many as 155 districts/cities experienced an increase in cases in the past week, compared to last week. Then two cities experienced an increase in cases for three consecutive weeks, namely East Jakarta, DKI Jakarta Province and Kendari City, Southeast Sulawesi.

"The government has dispatched a special team to monitor and supervise the implementation of the COVID-19 process in public areas to anticipate a spike in cases and wave three. Public awareness of health protocols is starting to decrease," he said.
