BANDUNG - Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto's efforts to market the products of the domestic defense industry (inhan) have been well received by neighboring countries, Malaysia.

On Thursday, November 11, Prabowo succeeded in bringing Malaysian Prime Minister (PM), Dato' Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and Malaysian Defense Minister, Dato' Seri Hishammuddin Hussein to visit the domestic inhan of PT Pindad (Persero) in Bandung, West Java.

The Malaysian PM said this visit was to see the potential for cooperation between Malaysia and Indonesia in terms of the defense industry. This visit is in order to review the defense industry in Indonesia, especially Pindad's production facilities and the potential for cooperation that can be carried out to meet the needs of the Royal Malaysian Army (TDM).

"Today in Bandung, at PT Pindad, maybe we will achieve something good for both parties in terms of defense industry cooperation," said the Malaysian PM during the visit, quoted from a written statement from the communications team of Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto, Thursday, November 11.

President Director of PT Pindad Abraham Mose on the occasion presented an explanation of Pindad's profile and its superior products, ranging from defense and security products including weapons, munitions and special vehicles to industrial products including heavy equipment, mining infrastructure and mining services.

Accompanied by the Minister of Defense Prabowo and the President Director of PT Pindad, the Malaysian PM entourage also carried out a plant tour to the production facilities and witnessed the defile of special vehicles including the Tiger Medium Tank, Ranpur Badak, various variants of Komodo, various variants of Anoa, Maung and the latest MV2 vehicle.

Pindad also displays various types of weapons including various variants of Armo pistols, G2 series (Combat, Elite, Premium), Mag 4, P3A, SPR various variants, SS2 V5 A1, Blackout, Dopper and SPM.

PT Pindad has produced a variety of flagship products, including Pindad weapons and ammunition used by the TNI shooter contingent and won various international shooting competitions such as AASAM, AARM and BISAM.

There are also Special Function Vehicles made by Pindad such as the Anoa 6x6 and Komodo 4x4 which have proven quality and durability because they have been used to support TNI missions not only at home but also abroad (UN Peace Keeping) in various parts of the world such as Lebanon, Congo, Central Africa. , and Sudan.

While in the industrial product line, Pindad's Excava 200 is currently available in various variants according to the functions and needs of the field. Pindad has also produced various agricultural machine tools, various transportation infrastructures to mining services.

Through its partnership, Pindad has also succeeded in producing an environmentally friendly smokeless waste burning machine called Stungta x Pindad, which is currently in demand to address the growing medical waste problem amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

In supporting the handling of COVID-19, Pindad also through its subsidiaries has innovated to create various types of ventilators.

Prior to PT Pindad, Malaysia had previously purchased domestic inhan products. PT Dirgantara Indonesia, which is also based in Bandung, is an aircraft made by PT DI, the CN-235, which has become a customer of many countries in the world for civilian and military purposes. Apart from Malaysia, this aircraft has also been exported to Brunei, South Korea, Pakistan, United Arab Emirates, Burkina Faso, and Senegal.
