Surabaya Legislator Releases Diplomas For 2 Students Detained At School

SURABAYA - A member of the DPRD who is also the Chairman of the DPD of the Golkar Party of Surabaya, Arif Fathoni, released the diplomas of two children from Keputih, Sukolilo sub-district who were detained at school because they had not been able to pay their tuition fees and other obligations.

"This morning I visited the house of Dwi's mother, a resident of the Keputih Village whose two children's diplomas were withheld," he said in Surabaya, quoted by Antara, Thursday, November 11.

According to him, previously, Dwi had confided that his two children should have gone to elementary and high school. However, because his diploma is still being held by educators at the kindergarten and junior high school levels in Surabaya because he has not been able to pay off his tuition and other obligations.

As a result of the suspended diploma, he continued, finally his two children could not continue their basic education, both of their children could not feel the joy of going to school with their peers.

Arif Fathoni, who is also a member of Commission A of the Surabaya DPRD, said that educating the nation's life is the goal of the state formulated by its predecessors.

Therefore, he said, the education sector is a priority in our budget policy. Moreover, in the city of Surabaya, no children should not go to school.

"Today we will visit an educational institution that is still holding back the diplomas of Mrs. Dwi's sons and daughters in order to complete all existing obligations. We will also try to have her family included in the MBR because her husband has not worked for two years due to the pandemic," he said.

He hopes that all of these efforts can make Dwi's two sons and daughters smile again because they can feel the joy of having fun with their future schoolmates.
