Officially Enrolled In Russian Military Service, A Company Of Terminators Strengthens Ural Tank Division

JAKARTA - The first nine 'Terminator' tank support fighting vehicles, START entering the service of armored units of the 90th Guards Tank Division of the Central Military District stationed in the Sverdlovsk and Chelyabinsk Regions from December 1 after successful trials, Commander of the Central Military District Colonel General Alexander Lapin announced Monday.

"This year, we have successfully tested a new method of using tank support fighting vehicles in the 90th Tank Division, and this has been a long-awaited time for us," he quoted TASS as saying November 8.

"We have studied all the characteristics of this combat vehicle thoroughly and I can say with certainty, after the operational tests and evaluations we conducted in June this year, the tank support fighting vehicle is highly effective and unmatched by its firepower in a vehicle of this class."

“We will now put a company of nine tank support fighting vehicles into service in the tank regiment of the 90th Tank Division before the end of this year, by December 1 at the latest, by decision of the minister of defense and on instructions from the Chief of the General Staff of the Troops. In June next year, we will hold a larger operational evaluation exercise to explore the potential use of a battalion of tank support fighting vehicles," he added.

Furthermore, Lapin explained, work will also be carried out to see the potential of the company of tank-supporting fighting vehicles for the motor-gun regiment.

"I firmly believe, this armored vehicle will successfully cope with its combat duties in combined arms combat, in accordance with modern requirements as the most efficient firepower vehicle both for supporting tanks and handling various missions in the mountains and in populated areas," he explained.

To note, the 'Terminator' tank support fighting vehicle arrived for the Ural Tank Division in December last year for operational evaluation and for personnel to learn to operate the new armored vehicle.

The 'Terminator' is a tracked armored vehicle to provide fire support with excellent weaponry, advanced fire control instruments and high maneuverability.

In addition, the 'Terminator' is capable of striking lightly armored targets, tanks and infantry fighting vehicles, including operating in conjunction with battlefield air defense systems against enemy helicopters and low-speed low-flying aircraft.
