JAKARTA - Head of the Salemba Penitentiary (Kalapas) in Central Jakarta, Yosafat Rizanto, asked all guards not to commit violence against inmates.

"I emphasize to the officers that there should be no acts of violence against the inmates. Do your best for the inmates," said Yosafat when confirmed by reporters, Wednesday, November 10.

Yosafat said that on the commemoration of National Heroes' Day which falls on November 10, the prison guards actually carry out ball pick-up services for inmates. Such as giving vitamins, spraying disinfectants and placing hand sanitizers.

"Don't let COVID-19 enter prisons. That's why we still obey the prokes, don't let our guard down even though the number of cases is currently sloping," he said.

Yosafat said that 98 percent of the inmates out of the recorded number of around 2,000 people had been vaccinated against the second dose. Inmates who have not vaccinated are inmates who have comorbidities.

"What we haven't fixed yet will be vaccinations later if the health conditions of the inmates can be vaccinated," he said.
