IPW: Two Indonesian Fugitives Arrested In The US

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian Police Watch (IPW) Presidium, Neta S Pane, said that he had received information that two Indonesian fugitives were caught by the security forces of the United States (US).

"Information obtained by IPW from the United States states that two Indonesian fugitives are included in red notices whose presence is known in the United States and have been arrested," said Neta in a written statement reported by Antara, Jakarta, Monday, August 3.

According to him, based on information obtained from these sources, the two fugitives were arrested by the US Immigration Service. Both were listed as "red notice" in 2018.

He said that the two fugitives arrested were Indra Budiman and Sai Ngo NG respectively.

Netta said Indra Budiman was caught in a case of alleged fraud and money laundering related to the sale of the Swiss Bell Condotel in Kuta Bali. "This case, he said, occurred in 2015," he said.

Budiman's colleague, Christopher Andreas Lie, was arrested by the Sub-Directorate for Fiscal, Monetary, and Foreign Exchange, Ditreskrimsus Polda Metro Jaya in May 2015. This case was revealed after the two were found to have cheated 1,157 people with a loss of Rp800 billion.

"When Christopher was caught, Indra managed to escape to South Korea and then to the United States until he was caught," said Neta.

Meanwhile, Sai Ngo NG was involved in a corruption case related to the submission of 82 fictitious KURs to Bank Jatim, Woltermonginsidi Branch, Jakarta, in 2015.

Neta hopes that the two fugitives can be tried by the Indonesian government soon. However, he said, until now the police had not responded to the information regarding the arrest.

"But unfortunately, until now the generals of the National Police have not responded to the arrest of the two big fugitives in the United States," said Neta.
