JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has asked all parties, including the PT Garuda Indonesia Employees Union or Sekarga, to report allegations of corruption at the state-owned company through official channels.

This was conveyed after Sekarga's visit to the KPK's Red and White Building on Tuesday, November 9. During their visit, the union said they supported the anti-corruption commission to investigate allegations of corruption at PT Garuda Indonesia.

"For those who really and truly know about the alleged criminal act at PT Garuda Indonesia, please report it to the official channel for public complaints," said Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement, Ali Fikri, to reporters, Tuesday, November 9.

He said later after the complaint was made, the KPK's Public Complaints Division (Dumas) would follow up with an initial examination. The way, they will verify and review the data and information submitted by the complainant.

In the process, Ali also ensured that the team would provide information on the progress of the report submitted. "KPK will confirm whether the complaint is an alleged corruption case and is within the scope of the KPK's authority and duties," he said.

"We only convey the confirmation of the details to the reporting party as an effort to protect the identity of the reporter himself," Ali added.

However, he reminded that reporting on alleged acts of corruption, including those that occurred internally at PT Garuda Indonesia, must be valid and complete. Not only that, said Ali, the reporters must also cooperate if they are summoned and asked for additional information.

"KPK hopes that the data and information submitted by the reporter is valid and complete. The reporter is also willing and cooperative if later it is necessary to ask for additional data and information to complete the initial information needed," he explained.

Previously, the management of the Garuda Employees Union (Sekarga) supported the efforts of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to investigate allegations of corruption at PT Garuda Indonesia related to the procurement of aircraft.

Chairman of the Sekarga Daily, Tommy Tampati, said that his party wanted the alleged rasuah to be thoroughly investigated. Moreover, his party has actually reported to the KPK several times but has never been followed up.

"Actually, we have reported several times, but until this moment we have not acted upon it," said Tommy to reporters, Tuesday, November 9.

"Therefore, we ask the KPK to investigate the existing indications," he added.

Tommy explained that there have been many indications of corruption occurring within the state-owned airline company. Starting from direct appointment of consultants with a value of Rp800 billion to procurement of aircraft and aircraft engines.

"Regarding the procurement of aircraft, it started in 2006 and was approved by the government, in this case the Ministry of SOEs," he said.
