Secure Motorcycle Racing At Mandalika Circuit, Thousands Of TNI, Panzer Anoa, Armored Vehicles To Snipers Deployed

MATARAM - A total of 24 company-level units (SSK), or the equivalent of 2,400 TNI personnel, participated in securing the world-class motorcycle race which will be held at the Mandalika International Street Circuit, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

"These 24 SSKs consist of Babinsa and our Koramil personnel. We have collected them all, so 24 SSKs," said the Military Resort Commander (Danrem) 162/Wira Bhakti Brigadier General TNI Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani in Mataram, reported by Antara, Tuesday, November 9.

For the mapping of security duties, he said, not all of them were placed in the Mandalika International Street Circuit area, but the scope of the personnel's duties was in the entire territory of Korem 162/WB.

"Especially for the circuit location, there are 3 SSK. Meanwhile, we assign them outside, at the entrances, that is what is secured," he said.

To personnel on duty outside the circuit area, Danrem 162/WB emphasized that they should anticipate all forms of threats and security disturbances that could hinder the smooth running of the event.

"So all areas must be secured, not only the location of the circuit is safe, but in Sumbawa there is an incident, an atmosphere like that is not good," he said again.

In addition to security from Korem 162/WB, there is also support from the Udayana Military Command IX. Not only the addition of personnel, the main weapon system (defense equipment) of the Indonesian National Army was also deployed.

"We (TNI) brought the Anoa Panzer, there are 4 units. We brought it with the crew," said Rizal.

In addition to the armored fighting vehicle issued by Pindad, other defense equipment support is in the form of two-wheeled TNI service vehicles, sniper experts, and personnel from the explosives disposal engineering company (jihandak).

"There are 25 motorcycles from the assault squad. That's all support for the contingency interest," he said.

In the "Final Check Meeting" event for the IATC 2021, WorldSBK 2021, and MotoGP 2022, all representatives of stakeholders, both in terms of security and the smooth running of the world-class motorcycle racing event, were also present.

The event was immediately opened by the Governor of NTB, Zulkieflimansyah, who was then represented by the NTB Regional Secretary, Lalu Gita Aryadi.

As a form of support for the success of the event, after the meeting in the final discussion of its preparation, all stakeholders also signed a board that reads "Signing of Readiness of NTB Province Ready to Host IATC 2021, WorldSBK 2021, and MotoGP 2022 Events".
