BANJARMASIN - The City Government of Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan will deploy 400 posyandu cadres to accelerate the implementation of the COVID-19 vaccination program for children aged 6-11 years.

"We will increase the knowledge of posyandu cadres regarding COVID-19 vaccination as the target is increased, namely children aged 6-11 years," said Head of the Banjarmasin City Health Office Machli Riyadi in Banjarmasin, Antara, Monday, November 8.

Machli said these cadres will later serve as actors in the field to assist in the implementation of vaccinations for children aged 6-11 years.

This posyandu cadre, he explained, will inform the effects of the vaccine, as well as help educate the public about the importance of the COVID-19 vaccination.

"There needs to be good socialization to posyandu cadres, so they can better convey it to the community," he said.

As is known, the COVID-19 vaccination program in Banjarmasin City has realized about 63 percent of the target of 516 thousand people.

The Banjarmasin City Government targets to reach a minimum of 70 percent for the first dose of vaccination on November 12, 2021 or during the commemoration of the 57th National Health Day (HKN).
