Gulkarmat Deploys Flood Suction Pump Cars At Pondok Karya Mampang, South Jakarta

JAKARTA - The South Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Sudin Gulkarmat) has deployed a pump car unit to assist the process of extracting flood waters at the Pondok Karya Complex, Mampang, South Jakarta.

Head of the Control Section of the South Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept., Sugeng, said the deployment of the water pump car was to speed up the receding of the flood waters in the location.

"There is only one pump unit, but there are three supporting units, including our pump car and a rubber boat. When the community needs it, we are ready," he said, quoted by Antara, Sunday, November 7.

One of the residents said that the puddle of flood water had started to pool since around 14.00 WIB.

According to him, the heavy rain that hit Jakarta on Sunday afternoon caused the flooding to inundate residents' houses up to 1.5 meters.

"Now the vehicle can pass, otherwise the car could not pass," he said.

Monitoring at the location, the Water Resources Sub-dept. also deployed a pump car unit to accelerate the receding of the water in the location.

The DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and the South Jakarta Gulkamart Sub-dept. have also alerted a number of officers and rubber boats to evacuate residents in the event of higher flooding.
