Jakarta Today: Heavy Rain, North Kebayoran Lama Floods 1 Meter

JAKARTA - Floods as high as one hit the residential area of Duku Rukun Tetangga (RT) 06 RW 02 North Kebayoran Lama, Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta on Sunday, November 7.

Head of the 06 Neighborhood Association, Ahmad Bari, when met at the location, said the inundation in his area had occurred since 13.00 WIB due to heavy rains hitting South Jakarta.

"Since 1 pm, the rain has been too heavy and the drainage here is also a bit clogged. The height varies. Even if the river is half a neck, it's more than 1.5 meters," said Ahmad as reported by Antara.

He said at least 95 percent of family heads (KK) from a total of 100 families in the area were affected by inundation.

"In RT, almost 95 percent of us are flooded. Please help all relevant agencies regarding this flood, how to deal with this flood," said Ahmad.

However, he said that the affected residents had not planned to evacuate and were still surviving on the second floor of their respective houses.

"Not yet, because generally people's houses are on the second floor here, so temporarily there," said Ahmad.

According to Antara's observations at the location, floodwaters have entered residents' homes, even dozens of motorbikes in residents' alleys were also submerged.
