JAKARTA – The Muara Baru and Penjaringan areas, North Jakarta, were affected by tidal flooding with a height of almost one meter. The rising tide has caused a number of roads in the 2 areas to experience traffic jams.

"This flood has been around since 8 this morning, but usually it subsides quickly. This (flood) also usually only happens for four days usually," explained one of Suprapto's security officers to reporters, Saturday, November 6.

Suprapto said the water level usually reaches a height of 50 cm. This is due to the high tide, so that trading activities and traffic in the vicinity are disrupted.

"It's quite disturbed, of course, because if it's flooded, the motorbike can't enter and goods can't get out or enter it becomes difficult," he explained.

A number of motorcyclists and cars are looking for alternative roads to avoid flooding. Many local residents chose to ride large trucks to get through this flood, whether they were going to work or going home.

Meanwhile, the sea level at the Fish Market Pump this afternoon reached two 240 centimeters or more than 2 meters.

"We urge the residents of North Jakarta to be aware of the potential for tidal waves due to the water level at the Fish Market Pump reaching more than two meters.

According to an information broadcast on the social media account, @bpbddkijakarta, Saturday 06/11, it shows that the sea level at the Fish Market Pump currently reaches two meters and 40 centimeters.

The second alert status indicates the potential for flooding for the area around the Fish Market Pump, namely Kamal Muara, Kapuk Muara, Penjaringan, Pluit, Ancol, Marunda, Kamal, Cilincing, and Kalibaru.
