What Did TransJakarta Do After Being Sprayed By Polda Metro Jaya?

JAKARTA - PT Transport Jakarta (Transjakarta) will communicate intensively to all operators as partners in relation to improving the security system, especially in the process of checking the health of the driver.

PT Transjakarta Director of Operations, Prasetia Budi said this step was a follow-up to the recommendations given by the Directorate of Traffic (Ditlantas) of Polda Metro Jaya when holding a press conference related to the accident of two Transjakarta buses on Jalan MT Haryono, East Jakarta on Monday (25 /10) then.

Previously, Polda Metro Jaya said that PT TransJakarta did not conduct health checks on bus drivers. In fact, the health check has been listed in the standard operating procedure (SOP). The absence of this health check is also related to the accident case of two TransJakarta buses on Jalan MT Haryono. In which, 33 people became victims, two of whom died.

"So there is indeed an SOP (health check)," said the Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Yusri Yunus.

So far, said Yusri, the only checks carried out on bus drivers are paper containing health information. So, later the drivers will fill it themselves without a professional inspection.

"But now it's only limited to filling out the checklists," said Yusri.

Prasetia Budi said that the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency as a regulator and PT Transjakarta as a bus management company actually partnered with operators.

"And management is part of us. We will communicate with operator partners regarding this recommendation so that it can be implemented as soon as possible," he said, Friday, November 5.

Prasetia explained, as an initial initiative, PT Transjakarta provided a sphygmomanometer to ensure that drivers were declared ready to start their duties in serving customer mobility.

"The process of checking the health of drivers both internally and externally needs to be improved. This is one of the efforts made so that similar incidents will not happen again in the future," he explained.

He added that PT Transjakarta will ensure that everything is carried out properly and is ready to give sanctions if there are operator partners who do not carry out this policy properly.

"We very well accept the input given by Polda Metro Jaya and will make improvements. Transjakarta is also ready to implement all the recommendations given as best as possible," he said.
