KPK Investigate Alleged Corruption In Formula E, Gerindra Rejects Comments

JAKARTA - Member of the Gerindra faction of the DKI DPRD, Syarif, did not want to comment on the investigation into the alleged corruption of Formula E, which is being carried out by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

"We can't comment on legal issues. The legal area is left to the KPK and those being investigated," Syarif said when contacted, Friday, November 5.

However, Syarif emphasized that his party will continue to support Formula E next year. Regarding the legal process that is running at the KPK, Syarif respects that.

"We respect that, it's a legal process. While Formula E continues. Let there be a bright spot, what is the problem. Let the KPK work. We are DPRD members who support Formula E, let the legal issues go, Formula E," he said.

Moreover, said Syarif, when the KPK begins to investigate, it does not mean that there has been a misappropriation of the budget for the financing of Formula E. It could be that the KPK is only doing prevention related to the potential for corruption in the DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan program.

"Later, the KPK will also provide advice on financing. That's good, prevention is called. The KPK will act not only when it happens, but also to prevent it," he said.

Previously, the KPK admitted that it was investigating allegations of corruption in the implementation of the international Formula E racing event in DKI Jakarta. Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement, Ali Fikri, even said that a number of parties had been asked for information and clarification to collect data and information.

"That's right, the KPK is asking for information and clarification from several parties to collect data and information or information needed by the investigative team," said Ali.

He said the investigation process was carried out after reports from the public on allegations of corruption in the organization of these activities.

However, Ali has not been able to specify who the parties are suspected to be involved in or who have been summoned because the investigation process is still ongoing.
