Bali Governor Ensures Optimal Handling Of COVID-19 Ahead Of 4 International Events

DENPASAR - Bali Governor Wayan Koster explained the development of COVID-19 on the Island of the Gods during the status of Level 2 Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM).

Since August 30, 2021, achievements in handling the COVID-19 pandemic in Bali have continued to improve. This is indicated by the addition of new cases of COVID-19 which has continued to decline, sloping and stable below 30 cases.

Meanwhile, 19 new cases emerged today, 18 people have recovered. While the number of deaths is 2 people and consistently below five people per day.

"And the number of active cases continues to decline consistently, reaching 280 people being treated at the hospital as many as 89 people and 191 people being in centralized isolation," said Koster in Jayasabha, Denpasar, Bali, Thursday, November 4.

Meanwhile, the cumulative number of cures continues to increase and has reached 96.41 percent. In addition, the central government has announced that starting November 1, Bali PPKM will enter level 2.

"The achievement of vaccination is progressing, the first injection has reached 100.4 percent and the second injection has reached 86.8 percent," he added.

Koster said that even though residents had taken vaccinations, it did not fully guarantee that they were free from COVID-19 transmission. He asked the public not to overreact with the current state of euphoria.

"With the better achievement of handling the COVID-19 pandemic in Bali Province, the Central Government has given confidence and planned several international events to be held in Bali," he said.

The international event is the Indonesian Badminton Festivals 2021 which will be held from November 16 to December 7 2021. The event is participated by 38 countries, namely 24 countries that are players and 14 countries who are referees.

Then, the 4th meeting of the conference of the parties (COP4) of the Minamata Convention on Mercury, which will be held on 21-25 March 2022.

After that, the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction will be held on 23-28 May 2022, followed by 193 countries.

"And the G-20 Presidency conference, which will be held for a year, starting in December 2021 and the G-20 Presidency summit on 30 (until) October 31, 2022," said Koster.
