4 Youths In West Lombok Dragged By River Currents, 1 Survived And 2 Others Still Wanted By Basarnas

MATARAM - One person has died and two other teenagers are missing due to being dragged by the Jangkok River at the Tibu Atas Nature Park, Buwun Sejati Village, West Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, this afternoon at around 12.00 WITA.

Public Relations of the Mataram Basarnas I Gusti Lanang Wiswananda when contacted confirmed this incident. "One victim died at the Suranadi Health Center, and one survivor was unconscious," he said as quoted by Antara, Thursday, November 4.

The victim died in the name of Paragraph (17), while the victim who was rescued in a faint condition was named Umam (17). Meanwhile, two victims are still being searched, namely Erik (17) and Andre Firmansyah (20).

"All the victims came from the Karang Bata neighborhood, Abian Body Village, Mataram City," said Lanang.

Based on the reports received, he said, the incident began when 10 teenagers came to visit the Tibu Atas Natural Tourism Park, Batu Asak Hamlet, Buwun Sejati Village, Narmada District, West Lombok, on Thursday, at around 11.50 WITA.

Of the 10 people, four people bathed in the river waterfall. But the four teenagers were swept away by the current of the river that suddenly came like a flood.

"Because the river current was getting heavier due to the rain, all the victims were swept away by the current and one victim (Ayat) was rescued but died at the Suranadi Health Center when he was given help," said Lanang.

The Mataram SAR office, he said, received a report on the incident from a member of the Indonesian Army, at 12.50 WITA.

Based on the report, the Head of the Mataram SAR Office, Nanang Sigit PH, deployed seven personnel to assist in the search for two victims who had not been found.

"As of Thursday evening, the two victims have not been found. Search efforts will continue on Friday morning," Lanang said.
