After 3 Months, A New Cluster Of COVID-19 Appears In Batam

BATAM - After the COVID-19 transmission rate has continued to decline since August, a new cluster has emerged. There are six people exposed to the corona virus who are family members of a puskesmas doctor in Batam City, Riau Islands.

"The additional six people are one family cluster," said Batam City Health Service Head Didi Kusmarjadi as quoted by Antara, Thursday, November 4.

He said one of the family members is a doctor who works at the Sei Langkai Health Center, Sagulung District.

He suspected that the family contracted COVID-19 from a relative who arrived from North Sumatra.

His party immediately anticipates the spread of COVID-19 in close family contacts.

"We are receiving antigen from one office. If necessary, we will close the puskesmas," he said.

His party will close the puskesmas if the results of the search using a lot of antigens are positive.

After several days without additional confirmed cases of COVID-19, the task force recorded seven people who had just been declared exposed to the corona virus on Thursday.

In addition to the one family cluster consisting of six people, the task force also noted that a resident of Batuaji District was confirmed to have COVID-19. A total of seven people had symptoms.

The task force also stated that one person had recovered from exposure to COVID-19, today.

In total, there were 25,831 confirmed cases of COVID-19, 24,982 of whom were declared cured, 840 people died, and nine people are still being treated.

"The cure rate is 96.71 percent, the death rate is 3.25 percent, and active cases are 0.04 percent," he said.
