Chief Of Police: Anyone Involved In Djoko Tjandra's Escape Will Be Brushed

JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Idham Azis emphasized that the legal process related to the escape of the convict in the cessie case or the transfer of Bank Bali collection rights, Djoko Tjandra, will be carried out in a transparent manner and whoever is involved in the escape will not be covered up.

"This means that anyone involved in Djoko's escape will be brushed and the legal process. Once again, this is a form of our commitment. We will be transparent and objective to thoroughly investigate what happened," said Idham in his written statement, Friday, July 31.

Furthermore, Idham stated that the police would coordinate with the attorney general's office in carrying out the legal process for Djoko Tjandra. This is because Djoko should have been executed to serve a sentence in accordance with a court ruling which has permanent legal force or inclusion.

"The process for Djoko Tjandra, of course, there is a process at the AGO which of course will be followed up. We will also coordinate with the KPK," he said.

Furthermore, Idham then explained the process of catching this top class fugitive. He said two weeks ago President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) ordered him to find and arrest Djoko Tjandra.

Responding to the order, he then created a small team to make arrests. "We then carried out the order. We formed a small team because the information concerned was in Malaysia," he said.

After the team was formed, continued Idham, his party immediately sent a letter to the Malaysian police. The letter contained a request for cooperation between the police to the police to arrest Djoko Tjandra, who at that time was detected in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

As a result, after the existence of the fugitive was discovered, the Head of Bareskrim Polri, Komjen Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo, together with the Head of Propam Polri Inspector General Pol Sigit went to Malaysia to lead the arrest process.

"Djoko Tjandra is indeed cunning and very clever. He often moves places. But, thank God, thanks to the patience and hard work of Djoko Tjandra's team, he was secured," he concluded.
