AMBON - An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.9 rocked Ambon, Thursday, November 4 at 11.42 WIT. This incident was reported by the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

BMKG analysis shows that the epicenter of the earthquake was 16 kilometers (km) west of O, Central Maluku (Malteng), 27 km northeast of Sawai, Malteng, at a depth of 10 km, with a location of 2.81 South Latitude (LS) and 129.34 East Longitude (BT). ).

The earthquake had a scale of V MMI in Sawai, IV in Eh, III MMI in Ambon, while in Masohi, Saparua it reached a scale of III MMI.

Based on observations from Antara in Ambon, the earthquake that shook Ambon Island and its surroundings made residents panic and scatter out of their homes and office locations.

The State Civil Apparatus (ASN) at the Maluku Governor's office and the Ambon City Government (Pemkot) scattered out because of the strong shaking. People can feel the vibration, while the hanging objects seem to sway. BMKG appealed to the public to remain calm and not be influenced by issues that cannot be justified. The public is also asked to avoid buildings that are cracked or damaged by the earthquake.
