Anies Again Extends Transitional PSBB Until August 13th

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan decided to extend the transitional large-scale social restriction (PSBB) period. This follows the transitional PSBB which previously expired today.

Anies said the transitional PSBB extension is valid for 14 days, or from 31 July to 13 August. This is done to reduce the number of COVID-19 cases. Because, recently, the number of positive cases in Jakarta has increased again.

"We decided to extend the transitional PSBB period again for the third time until 13 Agusuts 2020," said Anies at the City Hall of DKI, Central Jakarta, Thursday, July 30.

The reason Anies extended the transitional PSBB was because the positivity rate or the percentage of positive cases based on the results of the examination was still at 6.5 percent. This is still above the World Health Organization (WHO) standard of 5 percent.

During this transitional PSBB period, the DKI Provincial Government still limits a number of activities held in closed spaces and gathers large numbers of people, such as cinemas, massage parlors, karaoke places, discotheques and wedding receptions.

"With the extension of the PSBB phase one transition period, it means that the activities that have been taking place must continue to follow the existing health protocols," said Anies.

Anies said that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government together with the TNI and police will continue to carry out checks and discipline. Then steps and strict sanctions will continue to be pursued by the DKI Provincial Government.

"The provincial government will continue to tighten supervision of every business and public activity. We will officially announce the business violations that have occurred and their prosecution," he said.

In this third transitional PSBB extension, the development of COVID-19 cases in Jakarta is still high. As of today, the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Jakarta has reached 20,769.

In details, 777 people were treated in hospital, 4,110 people underwent independent isolation at home, 12,801 people recovered, and 821 people died. Therefore, Anies reminded the public to be more obedient to the COVID-19 prevention protocol.
