Jakarta Floods Again, Yusuf Muhammad Sprays Anies Baswedan: The Governor Is Only An Expert On Words

JAKARTA - Social media activist, Yusuf Muhammad criticized the statement of the Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Riza Patria, who said that the flood problem in the capital cannot be solved in one or two periods of government, but it takes a long time and the cooperation of all parties.

Yusuf Muhammad questioned how long it would take to solve the flood problem in Jakarta. He then quipped Anies who was only an expert on words. "So how many more periods should it take?" Yusuf Muhammad tweeted on his Twitter account quoted from ERA.id, Tuesday, November 2.

"If the governor is only an expert in words, so that his term will be extended until Eid al-Fitr, it will also not be completed," he added.

Previously, the RW 03 and 04 Cipinang Melayu areas were flooded by up to 80 centimeters on Monday after heavy rains hit Jakarta. The flood also forced a number of residents to take refuge in refugee camps under the Becakayu Toll Road.

Joint officers from the East Jakarta Fire Service, BPBD, and the police were dispatched to suck up the water that has flooded the residents' settlements in Cipinang Melayu.

Head of the DKI Jakarta Water Resources Service (Kadis SDA), Yusmada Faizal, said that the flooding in RW 03 and 04 Cipinang Melayu was due to the high intensity of rain from Monday afternoon to evening.

"The rain was too heavy, the rain was recorded at 142 milliliters. This includes very, very heavy rains," said Yusmada Faizal in Jakarta, Tuesday.

Yusmada said the height of the Sunter Hulu Monitoring Post on Monday at 12.00 WIB was still on standby four or normal, but at 16.00 WIB the altitude rose to standby one until 19.00 WIB.

This makes the water discharge not fully accommodated in the Tiu Reservoir and Pondok Ranggon Reservoir. He also denied that efforts to build a drain from the Sunter River to the Tiu Reservoir and Pondok Ranggon Reservoir were not effective in reducing flooding.
