Focus on the Music World, Suki Waterhouse Admits to Being More Free than Being a Model

JAKARTA - British model and singer Suki Waterhouse has been outspoken about a major transformation in her career. Robert Pattinson's lover revealed that her decision to switch focus to the music industry had given her a sense of creative freedom that she had never felt before.

In his latest interview with Variety, Waterhouse explained that this new chapter in his life gave him full authority over his own works. The singer of "Good Looking" felt that he could finally take full control of the artistic direction he was pursuing.

"This is the first time I've really been the boss for myself," Waterhouse said.

Although he has now reaped the sweet fruit of his music career, the transition process is admittedly not easy. The 34-year-old singer admitted that he had to throw away various old habits and mindsets that had been ingrained for years working in the modeling industry, which he considered to be full of demands.

"It took a really long time to get to a position where you have a little more space to speak up, especially in that industry (modeling)," Waterhouse said.

"Being a young woman there is just so brutal. And then as you get older, you realize that no one really knows what they're doing," she added.

Furthermore, he also gave his appreciation to the circle of female friends around him, including Camila Morrone and Riley Keough, who were his co-stars in the series Daisy Jones & The Six. According to him, this support has helped him a lot in exploring the courage to speak out.

"Unlike my natural nature, which tends to be stiff, typical of British people, they taught me that it's okay to be a little difficult to manage. It actually shows that you really care. So, whenever someone tells me that someone is difficult to manage, I'll think, 'Oh, I like them. It must be,'" he added.

Although currently prioritizing his music career, Waterhouse insists that he will not completely close the door to returning to acting on the big and small screens in the future.

"The desire is still there completely. It's really just a matter of managing time. The reason is, the music tour schedule is fully booked, and on the other hand I also have to try to divide my time to take care of my family," he concluded.

Suki Waterhouse herself first debuted in the music industry in 2016 with the song "Good Looking". Now, the indie-pop musician is preparing to greet fans with the release of his third studio album, "Loveland", which is scheduled to be released on July 10.
