Condolences, Musician James F Sundah Dies

JAKARTA - The world of music is once again hit by sad news with the death of legendary musician and songwriter, James F Sundah. The composer of the song Lilin-lilin Kecil is reported to have passed away on Thursday, May 7.

The news was confirmed by the family through a short message. The deceased passed away at 11 am New York time, United States.

"He has returned to the Father's House in Heaven peacefully, our beloved husband, papa, brother, sister, brother, friend: Mr. James Freddy Sundah on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at 11:28 am New York time EST at the age of 70," the message read.

Representatives also said that the process of visiting and worship would be held on Sunday, May 10 at one of the funeral homes in Forest Hill, New York. Meanwhile, the release to the funeral will take place a day later, May 11.

James F Sundah bequeathed a series of legendary musical works in the country. He collaborated with a number of well-known singers ranging from Chrisye, Vina Panduwinata, Titie Puspa to Sheila Majid.

Apart from Lilin-lilin Kecil, his works that are also very familiar in the ears include Astaga, September Ceria and Jurang Pemisah. A collaboration with the German rock band, The Scorpions titled When You Came Into My Life, followed by a brilliant track record of the composer.

Addie MS is one of the musicians who admires the career journey of James F Sundah. He expressed his deep sorrow at the departure of the legend.
