JAKARTA - Swedish virtuoso Yngwie Malmsteen has officially announced that he has completed the recording process for his latest studio album.

Malmsteen revealed that he had spent five full months in the studio working on the successor to the album "Parabellum" which was released in 2021.

Regarding the musical direction of his latest work, the 62-year-old guitarist ensured that the album still maintains the distinctive character that has made his name known for more than four decades in the world music industry - neoclassical metal.

According to him, this album will be a very dramatic performance and full of complicated technical compositions but still soulful.

"I just finished recording a new album. I've been in the studio for almost five months in a row. This album will sound very 'Malmsteen-esque'. It will be everything you expect, even more than that. And this special album will sound very neoclassical," Yngwie Malmsteen said in an interview with Eddie Trunk, quoted by Blabbermouth, Monday, April 27.

One of the interesting aspects of this album is its specifically designed duration format. Malmsteen explained, his album lasts exactly 46 minutes to fit the capacity of a vinyl record.

Although it will later be available on all digital platforms, he emphasized, the aesthetics of this recording are indeed intended for the perfect physical release listening experience.

Malmsteen also confirmed that he was back to taking the role as a vocalist on four songs, while the rest were pure instrumental numbers.

In the creative process, the guitarist who is now supported by Nick Marino (kibor), Emilio Martinez (bass), and Kevin Klingenschmid (drums), admitted that he always let his ideas flow without the pressure of industry trends.

"I decided a long time ago to make honest music, not to try to do something fashionable or follow trends. As Niccolò Paganini said, one must feel strong to make others feel strong. So I feel very strong about this music, and apparently it was conveyed," concluded the guitarist.
