Eka Gustiwana was upset because her work was misused. Through her Instagram account, the Weird Genius member revealed that there was an intentional intellectual property rights violation.

"I found that there was a remix of HRNY - 'Not WG' and Sweet Scar - 'WG' that was re-uploaded without permission to digital streaming platforms/DSP," wrote Eka, quoted from the upload description, Tuesday, April 21.

Eka is actually quite open, by allowing people to re-create his work. However, he sees a clear limit, not to upload the results of the creation to DSP without permission.

"Since 2018, I have always allowed friends to remix, edit, rearrange, cover, even extract acapella from our songs. But the limit is clear: don't upload it to DSP without official permission (Spotify, Apple Music, IG/Tiktok Official Audio, dil). If it's just content on Soundcloud or Youtube it's still safe, bring it Live/DJ Set too please," he said.

The 36-year-old musician said that warnings had been given a long time ago, but the reality was that there were still parties who did not heed. Therefore, a firm step is considered necessary to be taken.

"Last year I had warned, but it still happened. So we consider this as a deliberate violation of intellectual property rights," he said. "If within 1x24 hours the song is not removed from DSP, I and my legal advisor will take further steps. If anyone knows the parties involved, please help tag it, you want to know."

At the same time, Eka also included an official letter made by her legal advisor. The letter contains three important points: Not uploading or distributing Eka Gustiwana's work to DSP without written permission; Lowering content that has already been uploaded to DSP and is not in accordance with the provisions; Do not monetize or take economic advantage without rights.

"Use outside the limits has the potential to violate applicable laws, including Law Number 28 of 2014 concerning Copyright," read a letter from Eka's legal advisory team, Venna Simanjuntak & Partners Law Firm.

"If violations are still found, our clients will take the necessary steps, including the removal of content (fake down) and legal action in accordance with applicable regulations," he concluded.
