Lana Del Rey Officially Completes the Soundtrack for the James Bond Game 007: First Light

JAKARTA - Lana Del Rey finally realized her dream to enter the world of the world's most popular secret agent, James Bond.

Through the latest song titled "First Light", Lana was officially appointed as the original soundtrack (OST) for the latest video game by IO Interactive, 007: First Light.

This work also answers the long wait of fans who have for years judged Lana's voice character to be very suitable for the Bond cinematic aesthetic.

The song "First Light" was worked on with a slick collaboration with veteran Bond composer David Arnold, who previously successfully handled the music for the films Casino Royale to Tomorrow Never Dies.

Lana Del Rey's magical touch in this song is praised for being able to bring an elegant feel and a mysterious atmosphere - a combination that is typical of Ian Fleming's spy series.

IO Interactive CEO, Hakan Abrak, also revealed his admiration for the collaboration of two great talents. According to him, this song managed to provide a new identity for the game that will tell the origin of the 007 agent.

"Seeing two incredible talents like Lana Del Rey and David Arnold join forces is a joy. The result feels very 'Bond' but still brings a fresh new identity to 007: First Light," said Abrak, quoted by NME, Friday, April 17.

In line with Abrak, David Arnold also emphasized the importance of the theme song in building the world of James Bond. He felt that Lana was the right person to continue the prestigious Bond music legacy.

"The theme song must be able to tell us about the world we will enter. That is why I am very excited to work with Lana, an artist who brings her elegance, atmosphere, and unique character into this work," said Arnold.

Lana Del Rey's presence in this project seems to be a sweet "revenge". In 2024, the 40-year-old singer revealed that she had written a song for the film Spectre (2015), but the producers preferred Sam Smith's song "Writing's On The Wall".

"Someday, maybe, but I'll keep doing my little Nancy Sinatra thing every now and then and pretending that it's the main theme song," Del Rey said.

Gim 007: First Light itself is scheduled to launch on May 27 for the Xbox, PlayStation, and PC platforms. Meanwhile, for Nintendo Switch users 2 must be a little patient because its release has been postponed until the end of this year.

This ambitious project from the Hitman series developer is also full of stars, from Patrick Gibson who voices James Bond, Lenny Kravitz, to the presence of Dimitri Vegas who will also mix a remix of the iconic Bond theme music.

On the other hand, Lana Del Rey is also preparing to release her latest album titled "Stove" this year. The album, which has undergone several title changes, is described as having a more melodic and pleasant "American Songbook" style.
