JAKARTA - Ibnu Wildan Arsalan took a big step for his music career. After years of performing other people's works on the regular stage, Wildan decided to perform as a singer with original works.
In his first year in the Indonesian music industry, Wildan has prepared a debut album with ten tracks. However, as an opener, he will first launch two flagship singles, "Don't Break It Again" and "Soul Abyss".
Through these two works, Wildan tries to provide space for those who are tired of hiding their feelings, those who are learning to accept loss, and those who are secretly trying to recover.
The single "Don't Break It Again" was born from familiar but often buried emotional experiences: a collapsed trust, a hope that was again disappointed, and a fear of opening your heart again.
Meanwhile, "Jiwa Palung" moves deeper. This song delves into the most silent side of humans: the inner space that is rarely touched, even by the closest people. There, there are no words that are enough. Only the echoes of feelings that keep repeating.
In the development of the work, Wildan was assisted by Rahmat Hidayat, who acted as a producer and also wrote several songs for the album which is planned to be released in the middle of this year.
"This series of two songs is actually part of our plan to make a (debut) album for Wildan, the album's title 'Celebration of Broken Heart'," Rahmat said at a hearing session in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, Thursday, April 2.
For Wildan himself, the decision to enter the music industry is inseparable from the belief that he must have original works that can represent himself as an artist. In addition, he does not want to be stuck in a comfort zone as a performer who brings other musicians' works.
"If my father says, if an artist means having a work. Many of the musicians in the cafe who may be in the comfort zone, so they just (appear) in the cafe, they are also paid every month. But according to me, if we think like that, it means we are eliminating our side as an artist," said Wildan.
Rahmat added that he and his team had considered several cafe singers to be debuted into the music industry, but the choice fell to Wildan after considering his quality and desire to work.
"There are actually several people that we have seen, and most of them are singers, Mas Wildan is indeed a singer, but many of us see that singers who have stuck in their comfort zone; cover-in people's songs," said Rahmat.
"And at that time we asked Mas Wildan, 'Aren't you interested in having a work?' It just so happens that I like writing and like composing (songs), so we finally offered it to Mas Wildan, and it just so happened that the pot was filled," he added.
At the time this article was written, the first two songs of Ibnu Wildan Arsalan were in the process of being administered, before they were later released through digital music platforms for Indonesian music lovers to listen to.
Through his debut this time, Wildan hopes that his original work will be well received by listeners.
"I hope it can be well received. What is clear is that my goal now is that I can work sincerely, as much as I can," concluded Wildan.
