Taking a Break from the Music Stage, Rahman Torana Continues Law and Finance Studies at Oxford University

JAKARTA - Young musician from Surabaya, Rahman Maulana Torana, managed to prove that there is no limit to continue to achieve achievements.

Graduated from the Faculty of Law, Universitas Airlangga and active on the music stage, Rams—his nickname—has just been accepted to continue his master's degree in law at one of the world's best universities, Oxford University in England.

At the university, Rams will take the Master of Law and Finance (MLF) study program. Interestingly, he is the only representative from Indonesia in the midst of fierce competition that only graduated 50 students from around the world for the study program.

"Alhamdulillah accepted at the Faculty of Law, Oxford University, England, along with 50 other people from around the world. I entered the Master of Law and Finance (MLF) S2 Program at Oxford University and the only one from Indonesia," said Rams when contacted by the media crew, Tuesday, March 31.

However, this news has consequences for his music career which is on the rise. In pursuit of his academic ambitions, the figure who once appeared in the Ahmad Dhani Masterpiece Concert in 2024 chose to step away from the entertainment industry for a while.

Even though he had to leave the music stage for a while, Rams emphasized that he would focus all his energy on completing his studies in England.

"Yes, while the music world stops first. Please pray for a quick graduation and can continue S3," said Rams.

Full support also came from his father, Edy Torana, who is known as a senior lawyer and national music promoter. According to Edy, education remains the top priority even though his son has great talent in the arts. He also revealed that Rams' achievements are not only on stage, but also in various international legal forums.

"As parents, my wife and I (Ranti) continue to provide support and motivation. Education is the most important and choose a campus that can bring success and glory to your dreams," said Edy.

Rams is indeed not an ordinary student. Behind his nimble fingers playing musical instruments, he has a formidable track record as a Student of Achievement (Mawapres) at Airlangga University. He is recorded as having brought his team into the top 32 in the world in the Frankfurt Investment Arbitration Moot Court Competition in Germany, as well as winning the first best speaker award in the Phillip C. Jessup Moot Court Competition at the national level.

Now, the Indonesian music scene has to wait patiently for the return of the bassist. Rams' main focus at the moment is to complete his legal and financial studies in England, as well as bringing Indonesia's name to the global stage through the path of intellectualism.
